Newscast Producer
WLNE-TV/ABC6, the ABC affiliate in Providence, Rhode Island is looking for a creative and collaborative full-time Newscast Producer!
The ideal candidate will be a strong writer with an even stronger news judgement who can write, produce, curate, and publish articles and other content for all ABC6 platforms.
Responsibilities:
-Produce daily newscast that fulfills station brand and promise to the audience.
-Lead the newscast team in executing the plan, staying focused and growing the audience.
-Build rundowns and create stories focusing on what’s happening now and what our audience will need to know next.
-Research, write, edit and publish time-sensitive local, regional and national news content with a focus on clarity, fairness, legality, spelling, grammar punctuation and style. This includes writing for both TV broadcast and across all digital platforms (web, social media accounts).
-Create video content for newscasts and all station digital platforms
-Work with other producers on ‘showcasing’ the best content and elements gathered in the field. Work as a team to differentiate content between the newscasts and create the best overall experience for our audience.
-Create contacts in the community
-Contribute story ideas each day
-Collaborate with anchors, assignment editors, producers and reporters on breaking news coverage and winning/showcasing the big story(ies) every day
-Incorporate UGC submissions from the NOW LOCAL NEWS App to tell stories in your newscast.
-Fill-in produce other newscasts as needed.
-Work with news managers to achieve goals.
-Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
-Local TV newscast producing and/or associate producing experience.
-Journalism degree preferred.
-Excellent writing skills.
-Solid news judgement.
-Strong communication skills.
-Ability to work well within a team.
-Drive to jump in and help when needed.
