WUNC CPB Project Reporter
North Carolina Public Radio WUNC, Chapel Hill
A collaboration of public radio stations around North Carolina is hiring an editor/reporter to cover state government and politics. The editor/reporter will edit and report from the state capitol, with an emphasis on stories that resonate with audiences outside of Raleigh.
Initial funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting is for two years. This position is based in Raleigh with opportunities for some remote work. The reporter will be a WUNC employee.
The reporter will work collaboratively with the project editor/reporter and WUNC’s Capitol Bureau Chief. The position reports to WUNC’s Supervising Editor for Politics.
Reporting will include quick turnaround spot news, interviews, reporter debriefings, anchor wraps, online reports and well-researched feature reports.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:
The editor/reporter will be an experienced journalist with strong communication skills. A bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field is required, with a master’s degree preferred. Candidates must have at least three years of experience as a journalist and/or radio producer, preferably in a public radio newsroom.

- Demonstrated ability to plan and meet deadlines, working with materials from a variety of sources and collaborators.
- Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues effectively and collaboratively.
- A familiarity with politics and North Carolina.
- Experience with public radio or related not-for-profit fundraising.

The salary range for this position is $59,000-69,000.
