Here & Now is a daily nationally distributed two-hour news program that reaches up to 5 million people every week on NPR stations.
The assistant managing editor is responsible for a variety of editorial tasks, including managing producers and overseeing aspects of the show. On any given day, you could be running our editorial meeting, assigning stories, editing scripts, planning remote broadcasts, or overseeing special projects. The assistant managing editor will also occasionally be responsible for the production of individual segments in coordination with Here & Now's hosts, and will provide editorial and technical support to the senior managing editor and executive producer.
Depending on experience, you might also provide on-air debriefs.
The position encourages fresh ideas to produce compelling content on the news stories -- large and small -- that are captivating the country, and the world.
B.A./B.S., and three to five years of related experience;
Desire to work in a fast-paced live broadcast news environemnt;
Sharp news judgement;
