The Chronicle of Social Change has an immediate opening for a full-time staff writer reporter to cover juvenile justice, child welfare and children’s mental health.
For this Los Angeles-based position, we’re looking for a self-starter with journalism experience who is passionate about news writing and children’s issues in the Golden State. This position includes breaking news about children's issues but also doing some investigative reporting.
You should have some writing chops, but you will also need strong research skills, an ability to wade into the finer point of policy and a knack for coming up with creative storytelling ideas.
Experience and understanding of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), the school-to-prison pathway and foster care are a huge plus, but are not required.
We prize good news judgment; accuracy, precision and clarity; ability to work quickly; and a entrepreneurial spirit.
