Job Description:

CHOICE (http://choice360.org), the publishing unit of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL, a division of the American Library Association), and the publisher of Choice Reviews, the premier source for reviews of new English-language books and digital resources for academic libraries, is seeking a science and technology associate editor.

 

Reporting to the editorial director, the science and technology associate editor ensures high-quality monthly review coverage of the most important new print and digital resources in the natural sciences for academic and scholarly library collections.  The associate editor selects publications and digital resources for review; oversees a pool of expert reviewers in relevant subject areas; edits reviews for publication; and prepares/edits special features, newsletters, and bibliographic essays. 

Salary:  Negotiable from the low 40s; based on relevant experience.  ALA has an excellent benefit package that includes medical, dental, generous paid vacation and retirement annuity.

Location:  CHOICE is located in Middletown, CT.  No option to work remotely.

Requirements:  Minimum of three years editorial experience in an academic, consumer, or trade publishing operation. Broad knowledge of the natural sciences and collection-development practices and trends in academic libraries. Library experience in the natural sciences, technology, or collection development desirable.
