Job Description:

Content Coach

The Courier-Journal in Louisville seeks a content coach who can help journalists raise the quality and impact of their work.

The content coach helps reporters and visual journalists sharpen their focus, seek relevant details through varied reporting techniques, understand their audience and present their stories, photos, videos and other content in a compelling way on social, mobile and other forms of media.

The job emphasizes front-end editing but involves line editing as needed depending on the story's complexity or the journalist's development.

This newsroom is dedicated to telling powerful stories, celebrating community success and challenging policy makers to account for their actions. We need a passionate watchdog who embraces collaboration across the newsroom to ensure we reach loyal and new readers. The right candidate will inspire and cultivate great ideas, identify and give voice to untold narratives, and support the defense of the First Amendment.

The content coach has an audience-focused mentality while also a collegial approach to fellow journalists on this state and national award-winning team. The coach will work directly with a news director, planning editor and engagement editor.

An ideal candidate will have impeccable line editing skills, fluency in social media and a deep understanding that quality journalism must be tailored for different platforms.

The Courier-Journal is a 10-time Pulitzer Prize-winning news organization in a metro area known for its internationally recognized chefs and restaurants; vibrant music scene, including the Forecastle music festival; world-class bourbon distilleries; and Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby. Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI) is a proud equal opportunity employer. We are a drug free, EEO employer committed to a diverse workforce. We will consider all qualified candidates regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, marital status, personal appearance, sexual orientation, gender identity, family responsibilities, disability, education, political affiliation or veteran status.
