Newsday Interactive Video Editor will be responsible for all aspects of video production primarily focusing on editing and posting, but including some shooting (depending upon skill level), final post production work color correction, sound balancing and monitoring of all video and news feeds streaming on Newsday.com and its affiliate websites. The incumbent will utilize video to fully engage and drive audience to our run of websites. The Interactive Video Editor must be able to assume either the day side video production schedule or night time video production schedule with some flexibility to work additional hours and alternate shifts based on business needs. This position is Tuesday through Saturday mainly evenings.
•Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.
•Mastery of a NLE system, preferably the latest version of Premiere and ability to navigate on both Mac and PC operating systems. Knowledge of and experience with an archive and CMS helpful.
•Comfort both behind the camera and in the editing suite.
•Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite of programs
•Ability to create After Effects graphics on the fly a bonus
•Two years of daily journalism production
•Strong communication and organizational skills to meet timely dept. goals and breaking news coverage.
•Good work ethic with a team player mindset and possess the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects while meeting both short-term and long-lead deadlines.
•The ability to think creatively and identify ways to optimize traffic by adjusting content regularly.
•Keep up with and incorporate internet content trends into daily work assignments.
