The Washington Examiner has an immediate opening for a designer in the newsroom.
Our designers work across platforms to tell a wide range of political stories in different ways. The design desk's primary responsibility is the production of the weekly print magazine and coordination with the digital team on web presentation and promotion.
We are also prioritizing digital opportunities, contributing to long-form enterprise design and project implementation. Designers can see a project from inception to completion, designing it for digital and social and then see it through in print. The ideal candidates must have the ability to work well with everyone involved to create engaging packages. We expect our designers to adhere to the Washington Examiner's standards of accuracy. Proven skills with copy editing, photojournalism, AP style, graphics and typography are essential. We expect designers to add value using alternative story forms.
Some digital experience, such as building interactive graphics and illustrations for video and social media is a plus. Proficiency in Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator is required.
